Help get through the subway checkpoint easily -  After you find the old subway while exploring the sewers, kill everything down there, but hesitate and avoid going through the door.  Instead head up the catwalk.  As you approach the people in the subway, tell your men to not fire right away.  Look for the yellow generator and blow it up.  This will burn out the lights.  Once you do this use night vision goggles to help kill off the men.  You should be able to make it to the checkpoint easily even with them still shooting at you (and missing since they can't see).
