Press L or R while you're doing the homerun trot and the player will gesture towards the home crowd.   And similiarly you hit a homerun when you're on the road hit Y, X, or B to taunt the crowd even more.

Announcer Commentary:
Don't press any buttons or do anything while you're pitching and the commentators will say extra things during the game.
